3 Tips for Cleaning Your Jewelry

1. Diamonds should be soaked in a mild solution of ¼ cup ammonia in 1 cup warm water for 20 minutes. You may also use a soft bristled brush to get in between the diamond and the mount. This is especially beneficial for elaborate and detailed settings. Finally, rinse the jewelry and allow to air dry.
2. Gold benefits best from a mild solution of warm water and a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid. Soak the jewelry for 15 minutes, and use a soft bristled brush to return the shine to your jewelry. Always take off your gold jewelry before you get in the shower or bath as soap dulls gold.
3. Silver should be cleaned with warm water only. If your silver jewelry is tarnished, you can use a silver cleaner on it. You should also never let silver come into contact with chlorine. Chlorine will cause small indentations in the silver otherwise known as pitting.
